somewhere in the last 2.5 years I was able to add subdomain users. Or, to be more precise any my add-on domain works for any ftp user name. That is, joe@mydomain.com, joe@addon.com, and joe@subdomain.mydomain.com all resolve to the same joe. It's good to know - not to create joe@mydomain.com and joe@addon.com (since it ends up being the same account), but it's good enough for my purposes.

What I am trying to figure out is whether it's possible to let this joe to change his password? FTP server may have an extension ("site cpwd") but I don't think it's available here. Is there some other way that the user can change the password without giving it to me?

http://forums.cpanel.net/f34/does-anyone-knows-change-ftp-password-themselves-web-interface-130969.html seems to indicate that it's not possible (and in typical vendor fashion justifies absence of this feature by some weird security consideration) - but I was hoping that there is some miracle here.

Due to an issue with the post office where we hold our PO box, our old PO box (1252) has been 'locked' in the USPS computer.  As a result, we've had to update our PO box to a new number.  For the majority of customers, this change has no effect - most use credit cards for billing.  Those that need it can mail the following address, which will be our new permanent address:

Ion Web Services
PO Box 2267
Midland, MI 48641-2267

The new PO box is now updated on the invoices in the billing system as well at this time.  Forwarding has been setup from the old box to the new one for a temporary period by the postmaster as well.

It looks like after email upgrade a few days ago, all address books and signature data has been wiped out is it possible to bring that back?

Thank you

On a side note, when I tried to create a ticket on this topic, I got a following message:
FormMail-Clone
The system administrator has disabled this script.

This is now complete.  Email access should be restored.  Mail that was sent during the issue will likely be retried, as that is the design of the SMTP service.

Due to the rescanning of the folders of mail on the server, it's possible that the mail folders may no longer appear in your mail client.  If this is the case, re-subscribe to the mail folders and you should be set.

We were alerted of service issues on the server this morning - they appear to be due to a hardware issue which incorrectly showed the disks as non-existent or completely full. This caused problems accessing email, cpanel, and other services. We're working on the issue right now, and have repaired the root of the issue.

Following this, the cpanel<->mailserver username and password link has stopped working.  We are reinstalling cpanel and the mail server to fix this issue.  This requires that the mail server installer traverses every mail directory to ensure that it's of the appropriate type.  Until this is finished, service will be degraded.  I will update this post once more information becomes available.

We will be bringing down the server momentarily to run a check on the disks for consistency.  We have noticed a few warnings that we want to check to ensure do not turn into data loss.  Once the disk check finishes, the service will be available again.  We will update this post once complete.

Indeed, WebDAV support would be nice. A lot happened since the original post, Vista / Windows 7 have a lot of gadgets that rely on WebDAV on the server, and servers are much better in WebDAV, and more important, are easier to set up!

I was wondering if anybody had this problem... I set up an email account for my cousin (very non-tech type, and lives in a different city). After a year she ran out of space, because her spam folder was huge. So, I deleted everything from /mail/spam folder through ssh. Probably there were other ways to do that, but seemed pretty straightforward.

The problem, however, is that CPanel still shows disk usage of 200MB while du in her mail directory, obviously shows less than a meg. CPanel says, that the quota is recalculated every 4 hours... it has been 4 days, but I don't see any changes.

Any ideas, comments are welcome!
Thanks

This sometimes happens when cpanel has an issue with the 'maildirsize' files that you find in the mail directory.  You can simply go delete these files, via shell or ftp client, if this happens.  Cpanel will auto-regenerate them (hopefully correctly this time) and that should resolve the issue.
